Columbia County, New York

Columbia County is situated in the Northern Hudson River Valley in Upstate New York and is conveniently located only two hours from New York City and 30 minutes from the Capital Region. Bordered to the west by the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains and to the east by Massachusetts and the Berkshires.

Columbia County was settled by Dutch traders following Henry Hudson’s exploration of the area in 1609. Subsequently, the Hudson River and the City of Hudson both bear Henry Hudson’s name and Columbia County bears a rich and diverse history.

Experience beautiful countryside, incredible country and mountain views, and historic towns and villages. Quiet country roads lead to wonderful historic sites, and seasonal activities. Local shopping and antiques, theaters and movies, museums and art galleries, cafes, and fine dining, downhill and cross country skiing, walking, hiking and cycling, boating and fishing, apple orchards and vineyards. Take time to visit the historic site of Lindenwald, home of Martin Van Buren, enjoy Hudson River views from Olana, the 19th Century home of Hudson River School artist Frederic E. Church, or stroll through Fields Sculpture Park at The Art International Arts Center, Art/Omi.

Columbia County truly has something for everyone.
